Commenting on the Welsh Office's veto power over future Welsh law, Kirsty Williams, leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats said:
"This is totally unacceptable and has set a very dangerous precedent on future Welsh laws.
"Clearly, this is not about looking out for the people of Wales and the 87,000 households on housing waiting lists, this is Labour looking after their own interests and putting the brakes on devolution.
"Why give us the full powers and then dictate from London what we can and cannot do with them? The National Assembly for Wales is here to look after the interests of the people of Wales and we need all the tools we can to do that. Welsh solutions for Welsh problems.
"Imposing vetoes here and there on Welsh Laws shows contempt for our National Assembly and the people of Wales. This is a perfect example of how our devolution settlement is not working."
Kirsty Williams added:
"It must be particularly humiliating for a Plaid Cymru Deputy Minister having to accept this imposition from a UK Labour Minister. If these are the actions of a party that Plaid Cymru are in a coalition with and who are supposedly in favour of further powers, what happens if the next Westminster government is opposed to devolution?"
